Kanga Loaders Duo Join Force For The V8 Ute Kiwi Showdown
Kanga Loaders drivers Garry "The Boss" MacDonald and Chris "Kiwi Kud" Pither will double up for the V8 Ute International Enduro at Manfeild ,New Zealand in 10 days time.
MacDonald, who was awarded the Privateers Cup in the V8 Supercar development series last season, will be back behind the wheel of the
number 41, Kanga Loaders V8 Ute.
The Hunter Valley based racer initially joined the Ute series in 2001, and was a regular Holden front runner, scoring second to Warren Luff in
2003.
"Utes are always good fun to race, sure they're not as fast as the Supercars but the racing is tough, if not tougher," said MacDonald.
The Kanga Loaders team will certainly be at short odds as one of the only teams to have both drivers with regular V8 Ute experience.
Chris Pither, the youngest person in the world to ever obtain a competitors licence, started Ute racing in 2005 and had his first win at
Eastern Creek.
"I just can't wait to get home and race, finally I get a chance to meet
the Aussies at my home ground," said Pither.
The non-champ V8 Ute International, to be held at Manfeild, Palmerston North will be V8 Ute racing in a unique Trans-Tasman package.
Aussies and Kiwis will be teamed up as one; each will race separately to qualify for Sunday's final, a 24 lap battle with a mid-race compulsory
pit-stop and driver swap.
"It is going to be a bit different, now we need to think of the fastest
way to swap over drivers in the pits," said MacDonald.
"Chris is a gun in New Zealand and knows the Manfeild track well, so we
should have some good tricks up our sleeve come race day."
The Kanga Loaders team will go head to head with V8 Supercar stars Jason Richards and Simon Wills, Former Superbike champion Aaron Slight,
Australian Rugby League legend Jack Elsegood and many more.
The Manfeild V8 Ute International starts February 3 with the checked
flag waving down on Sunday, February 5.
