Johnsons Championship Lead Slips To Ford

The new Ford BF Falcon XR8's dominated Goulburn's Wakefield Park track today for Round Three of the Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series with Perth driver Kerry "Fanga" Wade giving a stand out performance bringing it home in first
place for the weekend.

"It is fantastic to stand on the podium in a series round. The Australian Grand Prix meeting was the last time I was up there and that was a non-championship round, so now I am back in the running for the overall
series," said Wade.

The top six positions of the afternoon's Race Three final went to Ford following Grant Johnson withdrawing his Championship leading Holden after
suffering medical issues related to recent surgery.

Marcus "Mayhem" Zukanovic in his #71 machine dubbed "Black Betty" came in second overall which moves him to the lead in the series championship.

Local Wollongong star, Damien "Ice" White, today celebrated his 150th Ute race start in style bringing his Team IMB #1 Ford in for third place.

Ryal Harris put serious effort into his final laps at the Wakefield Park 2.2km track and came from 24th position to 14th to grab the PGF Golf Drive
of the Day award.

The day started slow as fog caused the Race One 11 lap opener to be reduced to six laps but Wade still managed a comfortable win from pole position and
set a new lap record.

White took second while James Small and Grant Johnson came together on the
final corner with Small finishing third.

"I apologised straight away to Grant, it was not intentional, I went in on the inside and then we were side by side there was no room either side so it
was touch or hit the breaks," said Small.

Matt O'Grady in the ORT #18 Commodore had a massive drive moving up eight
places through the fog from 16th to eighth in only six laps.

Race two started with the sun blaring and it was Scott Jennings on pole for the reverse grid and he led the rest of the pack for start to finish.

"I didn't even look in the rear view mirror, it was head down and butt up for my first race win for the Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series," said Jennings.

A rookie of the 2006 Yokohama V8 Ute Series was also awarded the Sonax Premium Car Care Best Presented for his well turned out Legrand entry.

Marcus Zukanovic had a fantastic drive from position eight to come in second in Race Two and James Small again bagged up a third for Coopers Pale Ale
Racing.

The overall series points now sees Zukanovic on top with 286, Elsegood on 273 and former series leader Grant Johnson with 253 now in third.

Utes are sure to be a hit with Darwin race fans at Round Four of the Championship as a support to the V8 Supercar Championship at Hidden Valley
June 30 through to July 2.

Round Three of the Yokohama V8 Ute Series from Wakefield Park will be televised on Channel Nine next Saturday afternoon June 3 at 12 noon.
