In a Ford-dominated qualifying session for round five of the Yokohama V8 Ute Racing series, Hi-Tech Motorsport engineered cars figured prominently with two cars in the top ten at Phillip Island on theweekend.
Team principle John "Barrell" Pachos was pleased with his drivers' performances, citing that the characteristics of this circuit and the current configuration of the makes, would favour the blue oval brand.
"The fast nature of this track would be better suited to the Fords - we knew that!" Pachos said. "But we have Kerry (Wade) in third fastest and
Grant (Johnson) is the quickest of the Holdens."
The latter was the winner of the previous round at Hidden Valley in the North Territory but faced a total engine strip down after the event.
"Certainly the win there was great with our Holden beating the Fords. But questions were asked why only ours could challenge them . . . and a
protest was lodged.
After we received a clean bill of health we were faced with a costly engine rebuild which, I must say, Greg Willis of Grove Juices graciously
paid for. For that I thank him very much," Pachos added.
Pachos' Hi Tech Motorsports operation runs four cars in the V8 Utes series with the Fords of Scott Jennings and Willis making up the
quartet.
