Denyer Joins Large Star-studded Targa Tasmania Field

The 2007 Targa Tasmania is the 16th running of Australia's ultimate tarmac
rally.

Through the generous support of Events Tasmania and the support of Pure Tasmania, the event continues to attract a top field of classic and modern

Television personality and motorsport identity, Grant Denyer, is the latest celebrity to join this year's Targa Tasmania, presented by Pure Tasmania,
driving for Team MINI.

Denyer will join Australian film star, Eric Bana, and ironman legend, Guy Andrews, when the event gets underway on April 17, ensuring the 2007 tarmac
rally a star-studded field.

The 2007 event has attracted 320 applications, which aside from the bonus seven-day millennium event, is the second highest number ever received for the six-day version of Targa, just four below the record of 324 in 2003.

The key growth has come in the Classic component, up from 76 cars in 2006 to
123 applications for next month's event.

Denyer, with co-driver Dale Moscatt, will drive one of the official Mini
entries in category 9 in the modern section.

The Seven Network personality competed in last year's Targa, but was restricted to just one day because of his Dancing With the Stars commitment
at that time.

It is fair to say that his star shines even more brightly than it did a year
ago.

Since his success in Dancing with the Stars, Denyer's profile has grown along with his on-air presence. The former Sunrise weatherman hosted It Takes Two and is currently the front man for Australia's Got Talent.

But while Denyer is best known for his work on the small screen, he has also
built a reputation as a motorsport professional.

Denyer has a passion for cars. He has raced in many forms of motorsport and
is a regular competitor in the V8 Supercar series.

"Cars have always been a big part of my life, and when the opportunity came to do Targa again, I was delighted because last year left me wanting more,"
Denyer said.

"It is a fantastic event, the roads of Tasmania are brilliant and I'm sure
it is going to be one of my highlights of the year."

"When I was a young bloke I always had two things I wanted to do in motorsport. One was to race at Bathurst and the other was to do Targa
Tasmania."

"We'll aim for a top ten outright. That would be a huge result for the car."

In the second Team MINI entry is Carsales publishing director, Mike
Sinclair, with co-driver Bill Hayes.

The third Team MINI entry for Targa Tasmania is driven by Australian race champion Paul Stokell, partnered by 15-time Targa veteran Peter Burrey.
