V8 Utes Thumbs Up By McNally For V8 Utes At Bathurst

Glenn McNally has successfully completed his first outing at Mount Panorama Bathurst in the v8 Utes with 14th place overall on the weekend.

The West Coast Racing driver, who had previously never completed a lap of the iconic circuit, put in a strong performance over the weekend to finish the final race in 14th place.

Glenn started the final race in position 14 thanks to a continual improvement after qualifying 26th, finishing race 1 in 20th place and race 2 in 12th place.

In the final race Glenn knew that he needed to get past a couple of guys in front of him off the line in order to tag onto the back of the leading pack in the hunt for a top ten finish.

“I didn’t get a good enough start to make the move that I needed to off the line,” Glenn said.

“I got stuck behind the guy I needed to be in front of and then had to focus a lot on the pressure from George Miedecke early in the race.”

“My aim was the top ten and while I didn’t quite get there I had a really good experience at one of the world’s toughest circuits and survived with the car in one piece.”

Glenn was one of the big improvers of the meeting, starting almost 12 seconds off the pace and ending up a massive ten seconds faster by the end of the meeting.

Missing the top 16 in race 1 hurt Glenn’s chances for the meeting but it did not deter him from pressing on and making the most of it.

“The best part is that I now have 3 races under my belt at Bathurst and that sort of experience cannot be bought.

“It was great to have a lot of sponsors present this weekend to see me race.”

Glenn also attributed a successful meeting to the tireless work of the HiTech Motorsport team.

“I couldn’t be happier with the way that Barrel and the boys approach their racing, they are thorough and hard working,” Glenn said.

Glenn’s next meeting is the grand final of the series at Sydney’s Oran Park.

“It will be good to race at Oran Park’s last ever meeting; as usual I will be giving it everything I’ve got to get a result for my sponsors and team.”
