Lowe Showing Impressive Form In Rookie V8 Supercar Season

Rookie MW Motorsport team driver Brad Lowe recorded his best finish of the year after he placing fourth overall in the second round of the 2009 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Development Series at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria recently.

In only his third ever V8 Supercar race meeting, the 23-year-old narrowly missed out on finishing on the podium overall for the round but was still very pleased with his fourth place finish.

Lowe showed plenty of skill and calmness throughout the weekend by matching it with his more experienced rivals over the weekend and his fourth place finish has certainly served notice to his rivals for the remainder of the year.

After qualifying third, Lowe recorded his best finish of the year by finishing the opening race in third place. The second race, where the top 10 finishers from the opening race were inverted on the grid, didn’t go exactly to plan for Lowe and he was able to recover from a bad start to finish in ninth. Fourth place was where Lowe ended up finishing the third and final race and that gave him fourth overall for the weekend.

“I had set myself the goal of running in the top five all year and to finish fourth in only my second round of the year is a very pleasing and satisfying result,” Lowe expressed. “I am really enjoying my time with the MW Motorsport team as they are a very professional outfit and they are certainly making my learning curve that so much easier. There is no doubt that there is still so much to learn and I am very excited about the remainder of the year and attempting to work my way onto the podium.”

MW Motorsport team owner Matthew White has been very impressed with Lowe’s performances so far this year and is excited about the remainder of the year.

“Brad [Lowe] has shown in a limited space of time that he has what it takes to be competitive in the Fujitsu Series,” White commented. “To be running up there amongst the top five runners is a great achievement as he is mixing it with drivers that have a lot more V8 Supercar experience than him. What has impressed me most is that he has held his own amongst his team-mates too and in two test sessions he has been the quickest of the team and I feel that he is only going to get faster as the year goes on.”

The # 28 Haines Bros supported BF Ford Falcon driver currently sits eighth in the Fujitsu Series point standings and if he can produce similar results to his Winton Motor Raceway weekend then there is no doubt that he will move closer to the pointy end of the point standings sooner rather than later.

Lowe and the rest of the MW Motorsport team will contest the third round of the Fujitsu Series up on the streets of Townsville in North Queensland on July 10 – 12.
