Super Sprint 4’s Kart Series Action Heats Up At The Indy 800 Kart Track

Despite a late venue change; the fifth round of the 2009 Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Super Sprint 4’s Kart Series at the Indy 800 Kart Track, near Windsor in the Hawkesbury area of NSW, last Saturday night (June 20) was judged as the most successful round of the year thus far.

Originally scheduled for the Picton Kart Track; the fifth round of the Super Sprint 4’s Kart Series recorded its biggest ever turn up of competitor numbers for the year and it was also helped along by the return of the Junior class to the series.

The Indy 800 Kart Track showed based plenty of fast and furious competition amongst both the Junior and Senior classes around the technical 800 metre track and the highlight battle of the round was without a doubt in the Senior Heavy class.

After being the dominant force throughout this year and last year in the Senior Heavy class; Rick Ward was thoroughly upstaged and finished behind winner Dylan Tennyson and second placed Rod Hodgskin. The drives of both Tennyson and Hodgskin were their best so far this year as they were able to pace the field throughout the final and leave Ward in their wake. For Tennyson this was his first victory in the Senior Heavy class for the year and Hodgskin, who gave away no fewer than 35kgs to the majority of his rivals in weight, drove his best ever race.

In the Senior Light class final Laurence Cripps was simply too strong for his rivals and managed to defeat Tyler Hunt and Robert Gillett in second and third place respectively on the podium.

The newly formed Senior Subaru class the final was won in strong fashion by Brendon Long and he was able to outpace Frank and Scott Marks.

David Harris and Jessica Hodgskin scored wins in their respective Senior Modified Heavy and Light classes after impressive drives.

Continuing on with the good form of the Hodgskin family; Cameron Hodgskin won the final in the Juniors and following him across the finish line at the fall of the chequered flag was Kaylah and Sally Tennyson.

Special thanks must go to both Raelene and Donna for all their wonderful efforts up in the control tower, as they played a huge part in making the fifth round of the Super Sprint 4’s Kart Series run smoothly.

The sixth round of the Super Sprint 4’s Kart Series to be held on Saturday, July 11 back at the Indy 800 Kart Track.
