In the spirit of the annual Tamworth Country Music Festival, the nearby Gunnedah Speedway (North Western NSW) are set to this Saturday night (January 23) showcase their very own version of ‘Dirt Track Cowboys and Cowgirls’ with the headlining acts being the latest rounds of the NSW Modified Sedan Series and NSW 4 Cylinder Sedan Series.

After two completed rounds of the NSW Modified Sedan Series it is BA Ford Falcon driver Kevin Sherwood that leads the way after a victory and a second in the opening two rounds. There is no doubt that Sherwood will have his eyes on getting back into the feature race winner’s circle at Gunnedah Speedway in order to consolidated his lead in the overall NSW Modified Sedan Series point standings. Amongst the drivers aiming to stop Sherwood’s dominance in the NSW Modified Sedan Series are drivers such as Keith Sims (VZ Holden Commodore), Wayne Olive (Mazda RX7) and co are ready to stamp their authority around the Gunnedah Speedway track.

In the NSW 4 Cylinder 4 Sedan Series the opening round winner was Mandi Roy in what was a sensational drive at Tamworth Speedway. Roy, who drives a Ford Laser, is the driver everyone is going to be chasing. The main contenders, aside from Roy, will be drivers such as ‘Country Cup’ winner from earlier this season at Gunnedah Speedway Sue Healey (Honda Civic), youngster Aaron Barnes (Ford Laser), Mark Levin (Toyota Corolla), Mark Chiplin (Ford Cortina) and a host of others.

Supporting the rounds of both the NSW Modified Sedan Series and NSW 4 Cylinder Sedan Series will be the ‘Ford VS Holden’ Street Stocks, ‘Stars of the Future’ Junior Sedans and the ‘Crash and Bash’ Fender Benders.

Admission prices for Gunnedah Speedway on Saturday night are $20 for adults, $12 for both aged pensioners and students. Children 12 years and under are admitted free providing they are accompanied by a paying adult. A family pass is $56 which includes two adults and up to three students.

A special shuttle service for Gunnedah Speedway race fans this season is a FREE courtesy bus that leaves the Regal Hotel at 5.30pm and the Wolsey Park at 5.45pm, both pick up points are in the Gunnedah CBD. Bus returns back to the Gunnedah CBD at the conclusion of the race meeting.
