Speedway Drivers Warm Up For Australian Title This Saturday Night At Gilgandra Speedway

In what will be their only race meeting leading up to this year’s Australian Title in April that is to be staged at Gilgandra Speedway, the Compact Speedcars are primed to headline the action this Saturday night (January 30) at the Western NSW venue.

A large contingent of Compact Speedcar drivers from all across the state of NSW and also a host of interstate drivers are set to make the trek to Gilgandra Speedway in order to fine tune their machines for the Australian Title and it is where everyone will be out to knock off defending champion in Victorian hard charger Danny Strainer.

Hot shots such as former NSW Champion Stephen Birkett, Matt Hinton, Carl Yenne and Cyril Robinson are only a small list of the contingent that is looking forward to the return of Compact Speedcars to Gilgandra Speedway.

The Australian Open Fender Bender Title are another of the main attractions this Saturday night and it is expected that in excess of 25 cars from all over NSW will fight it out for glory in the ‘Crash and Bash’ class. A hit favourite amongst both the kids, the Fender Benders always provide plenty of excitement from the moment they hit the track and this Saturday night certainly should be no different.

Also part of the main program will be the latest round of the NSW Super Sedan Series. Drivers such as Tony Barklimore, Lachlan Onley, Bernie Roberts and Michael Hickey are amongst the leading contenders in the popular and high paced class.

The support classes are to consist of the Modified Production Sedans, Street Saloons and Junior Sedans.

All the action is scheduled to start at 6pm.

Gilgandra Speedway is located 5kms south of the Gilgandra CBD along the Newell Highway.

Entry for spectators is $17 for adults (16 years and over), $10 for aged pensioners and students between the age of 12 and 16 years, and children under the age of 12 year of age are admitted free, providing they are accompanied by a paying adult.
